Five years ago, Swiss Post set up a competence center for e-voting and cryptography in Neuchâtel. At the heart of the symbolic Hôtel des Postes, a team of experts spends every day working on codes, protocols and algorithms as part of the ongoing development of the e-voting system. Every detail in the system counts to ensure the security of online voting. And the public can visit this state-of-the-art facility for the very first time on 29 June 2024 as part of its open day to mark 175 years of Swiss Post.
Fail-safe IT solutions are vital for ensuring that Swiss Post customers receive their parcels or letters safely and on time. In order for Swiss Post to remain an attractive employer during the specialist staff shortage, the company is exploring new avenues. One of these is “workation” – remote working from a holiday destination. With this in mind, Swiss Post has carried out a six-month pilot project for IT staff.
Since February 2023, IT specialists from Portugal have been helping to continue the digitization of Swiss Post’s services. As data analysts, cybersecurity specialists or software developers, they help to ensure that customers in Switzerland can continue to rely on Swiss Post in the future. Nuno Pedro, Head of the IT Campus in Lisbon, provides some insights.
