175 years old and still ahead in the global rankings – Swiss Post is simply world class

Swiss Post has been named the world’s best postal organization for the seventh consecutive time, topping the Universal Postal Union’s (UPU) rankings. The UPU evaluates postal organizations from a total of 172 countries annually, and Swiss Post achieved the highest score again this year. The company has been providing top-quality services for 175 years and will continue doing so in future. The award is deserved recognition for all of its staff, who work tirelessly for customers day and night.

Swiss Post’s e-voting system to be used for the first time in elections this autumn following further development and successful hacker test

Swiss Post’s e-voting system will be used for the first time in the federal elections in autumn 2023. Today, the Federal Council granted the cantons of Basel-Stadt, St. Gallen and Thurgau the relevant initial authorization. This comes after the system was put through its paces again in recent months: between 8 and 31 July 2023, 2,650 hackers attempted to identify vulnerabilities in the e-voting system in what is known as a public intrusion test. Despite around 55,000 attacks, no one succeeded in penetrating the e-voting system, or even the electronic ballot box. A further audit was also carried out on behalf of the Confederation, and Swiss Post has carried out ongoing developments to its system on this basis.

A successful premiere for Swiss Post’s e-voting system

Swiss Post’s new e-voting system was used for the first time in the recent contest in the Cantons of Basel-Stadt, St. Gallen and Thurgau. The first 4239 people cast their electronic votes. Michael Egger, Head of E-voting at Swiss Post, sums up how things went and explains what’s next for e-voting.
