Swiss Post is currently handling more parcels than ever before. Stefan Luginbühl is Head of Parcels National/International and responsible for the entire parcel processing operation at Swiss Post. He pulls out all the stops to prevent a parcel collapse. In this interview, he forecasts a new all-time record and provides an insight into his crystal ball.
Parcels as far as the eye can see. Sorting machines working night and day at full steam. In terms of parcel volumes, the period from Black Friday on 27 November through to Christmas is the busiest time of the year. But this year is different in many ways. Online retail has increased sharply since the lockdown. This means Swiss Post is facing even greater challenges than in previous years. Swiss Post expects at least 20 percent more parcels than last year, and has put in place a whole range of measures to be able to process them.
Swiss Post has once again been named the «world’s best postal service». It achieved the top ranking in the annual Universal Postal Union (UPU) study for the fourth time in a row. Of the 170 postal organizations evaluated worldwide, Austria and Germany also took their place on the podium along with Switzerland. In an interview, CEO Roberto Cirillo explains why the award means so much this year.
