On 1 August 2021, Swiss Post opened its apprenticeship portal for 2022. As the third-largest employer in Switzerland, Swiss Post offers young people training in 17 different professions. Sarangi Senthilkumar is one of around 2,000 apprentices at Swiss Post. She is about to start the third year of her apprenticeship to become a commercial employee. As part of a PowerTeam, she recently even began leading a team of seven people.
Mail carrier Anna Egger has her hands full: her vehicle is packed with parcels, letters and newspapers, all of which have to be delivered to the residents of the Safiental in Graubünden by midday. To make these deliveries, she has to travel over 100 kilometres. Anna’s route is the longest mail delivery round in Switzerland and winds over steep slopes in a region teeming with nature.
We’re all used to finding a collection note in our letter box. In most cases, it means we were out when the mail carrier called, and we’ll now have to go the post office to collect the tea, face cream or new clothes we recently ordered. But what if our plans for the day clash with branch opening hours? Swiss Post can offer plenty of alternatives for collecting parcels, including My Post 24 terminals. This option saw a huge take-up during the pandemic in 2020.
